"What happens if you are cremated before your soul has completely left your body?", my friend asked. "I've read that it takes three days before your soul is completely out of your body."
The Angels share that as in life, each of us is slightly different. It depends on the circumstances of death, if death is sudden, and your personal beliefs about death. In all cases, you will have a chance to gather yourself together, even if you miss the initial opportunity. There is no one right way.
Someone who has been in a state of lengthy illness, often leaves their body easily and quickly because they are ready to leave behind the pain and incapacitation of their body's disintegration.
Someone struck down suddenly through a heart attack or an accident, creates a different scenario. This person might linger because he has to understand he is no longer alive in a body. I read a young man who was struck down instantaneously in a traffic accident. He was furious that his grieving wife didn't acknowledge him while he was standing right next to her.
The Angels are quick to point out that the process of life on earth, which includes what we think of as death, is forgiving. Should you be the one who is cremated before the three day holding period required in some religions, you will still have the opportunity to gather yourself together as you adjust to your new life in death.
This question reminds me of how many dead I have read who had been severely ill for a prolonged period of time. Often, they appear to be gathering themselves together, as if they are pulling together the pieces of themselves that splintered in life. I always thought this was because their illness with all the "healing" drugs, had fragmented them in some way. Perhaps having your physical body cremated quickly is similar.
In all cases, your beliefs about how life works or doesn't, influence your experience. Thinking positively continues to create an easier climb through your life today as well as into the death experience.
