Jennifer Love Hewitt gets to hear from her dead Grandmother and it's news. When I share that my Mom, who's been dead for almost thirty years, has been in my dreams every night for a week, nobody's interested.  I'm going to tell you anyway.

My Mom and I loved each other but we had a tumultuous relationship.  Whenever I "bumped" into her in my dreams, I would know it was her because I could hear her voice.  Besides, I had deliberately called her in before I fell asleep.  I recognized her body shape. But I always saw her facing away from me, sitting in a chaise lounge that she once passed on to me in adolescence. She was "holding court" with her unseen friends.

Now, my Mom is clearly participating in my dream life with me. I didn't call her in consciously, she just appeared. I've gotten up two nights in a row to look for her. Did I tell you that I tend to sleepwalk?  I wonder where she is since I live in a one bedroom and she's not sleeping next to me. After all, it's dark out.  I wonder if I've given her the keys, and where's her stuff in the bathroom? That's when it hits. I'm dreaming.

What's so very special for me is that I've done years of forgiveness work on our relationship, both from my side and from hers. Something must have happened, because now she's trusting me and interacting with me in a way that makes me feel safe and loved. This is the Mom that I loved, and now she loves me too. For me this is extraordinarily sweet.

 

A Dead Dad Isn't

Pete was the kind of father we would all love to have had. His family meant everything to him. He was good to his wife and involved with his kids. He lived the morality others talk about. His family was his proudest accomplishment.  He taught his children by being the role model, the solid backbone support of the family.  He was a deeply spiritual man who lived his beliefs.

His daughter wants to know if he's still able to be with them all, especially her Mother, who's still alive. The Angels indicate that each of us have individualized energy fields.  He is able to notice the oscillation that occurs when you move emotionally from a state of peace and love into a state of anxiety and fear. The difference in vibration gives him a measure of how your heart is feeling.  He lives his own life but draws close when he's called.  Not so different from how he lived when he was in a body.

Pete's granddaughter thinks her Grandpa comes to visit her in her dreams.  He's delighted that she's noticed.  His sense of responsibility and pleasure in all of you apparently didn't leave with his body.  He can't change your fate, but when asked, he can gently guide you with his loving hand.  Again, not so different from how he acted in a body.

What's interesting is, his very accomplished adult daughter, of whom he is justifiably proud, has devoted her life to helping charities meet their financial goals.  She's internalized his life's example and now offers the same rock solid behavior to her helpmates in her personal, as well as her business life.

A Dying Cat offers a Lesson in Death

Today I had the privilege of doing a healing on a dying cat, Blackie.  The word "healing" is a misnomer here. My intention was not to reverse the cat's preparation to move into the next part of his life, although that would be lovely if it's for his highest good. My intention was to move his energy so his body was not in any pain. 

Blackie isn't just any cat. In the past, this cat lived in an unsafe home with his owner, Bonnie.  That experience left the two of them protective of each other. After 15 years together, it appears to be time for the cat to cross over. Bonnie is grieving and hoping he's not scared. She doesn't want to euthanize him unless he's in pain. For the last few days he's stopped eating, won't take his pain medication and has been hiding out in the furthest-most closet.

The Angels point out that in nature, it is natural for a dying animal to find a place to burrow in and allow its body to shut down and die.  Animals stop eating and allow their body to guide them into what we call death. 

Snakes shed their skin as they grow out of it and move on. Then the Angels gave me one of their helpful nudges and reminded me that when my eldest daughter was about twelve, a Naturalist

                                                                                        

helped her and her friends set up an aquarium with pond water, plants and tadpoles.  By some fluke of good fortune, she was the only kid to catch a crayfish in the pond with her little tadpole net.  The crayfish, who looked like a miniature lobster, was the star boarder and commanded a inordinate amount of attention in our tank. He and the tadpoles thrived in clear water for several years with no filtering system beyond their own natural environment. 

About three months after Mr. Crayfish came into our life, however, we noticed he was floating, appearing dead. After watching closely, we realized we were looking at his discarded shell. He was still growing and living a healthy life while currently hiding himself between the pond plants.  He had outgrown his old home and left behind a body shell that he no longer needed. Isn't it possible we do the same?  

A Little Boy Passes On

A  much-adored little boy died in his sleep from the side effects of Muscular Dystrophy.  He was a dear little thing, only two and a half. He managed to keep smiling through all his difficulties and kept those around him smiling in love in return. He was clearly a gift for everyone he encountered.  

Every night before he fell asleep, he would hold his Mother's hand, smiling with his eyes closed until he drifted off.  On his last night of life, he wouldn't let her hold his hand. Although she tried, he pulled his hand away and kept his fingers locked.   This was the night he didn't return.

 His family wanted to know why, after so many nights,wouldn't he  hold her hand?  It was quite simple.  In his total connection with

 Source, he knew he was crossing over. His sweet little head told  him to be certain to let go, so that by mistake, he didn't take  his  loving Mother with him.  He knew it wasn't her time.   

Mum moves into the Light, literally

Marilyn flew home to New England to comfort her Mother as she was drawing close to death.  

As they sat together sharing old times, my friend asked her "Mum" if she was afraid.  Marilyn shared what her beliefs were, something along the lines of, "If there's a heaven, and I think there is, you'll go straight up. Dad and Frankie, her son, will be there waiting. And Mum, there's no fighting there!" (Her family life could be a little contentious.) 

That same day, Marilyn extracted a promise from her Mother.  When she passes, could she let her know she was okay, that she had arrived safely?   She said if she could, she would. After the funeral, Marilyn returned home.

 Here's the picture from Marilyn's bedside table of her Mother  on the left, standing with her own Mother and her siblings. Before Marilyn went back east, all the people were  as clear as the car on the left.  The white light beaming over  her beloved "Mum" is the addition.

Misery doesn't love company

Over five years ago, Jan lost her teenage son in a reckless auto accident.  She's still so devastated that she's clamped off the lifeblood of her own existence, the life of her other children, and surprisingly, the life of her dead son, Jason. Her intense grief is holding them all back from any happiness.

Jason's pictures and memorabilia are everywhere in the house. The Angels are suggesting she put all of his pictures in one place, perhaps her bedroom, where she can allow herself to miss him for a short time and then return to everyday life. What she's created for herself and her family is a dungeon of misery. 

This Mother lived through her son. He was her hope, her raison d'etre.  Now she's friendless. Her other children hope to grow up fast so they can leave home. Her Angels say she is a human vacuum cleaner. She literally sucks the joy out of everyone. They feel exhausted in her presence.

It is an opportunity for Jason to realize that this is his Mother's doing and not his, and to disentangle himself from her. Her magnetic hold of grief is so powerful he feels like he's soldered in place. It is an opportunity for Jan to let go and open to the possibility of joy, to be grateful for what she does have, and to begin to change this house of gloom into a home of love. What she doesn't realize is that she has clamped off not only her own life, but his as well. 

Jason indicates his willingness to move on. When I ask if he wants to move into the Light, there is a hearty, "Yes!"  The Angels and I give him the boost he needs so he can live his life in the freedom of spirit. 

The Angels speak about life's meaning

An older woman's body was found in her own home  almost two weeks after her natural death.  Her niece is concerned because she died alone and it was several weeks before her family found her. Her aunt indicates it was a peaceful death.

The dead aunt, Matilda, says her niece is being too hard on herself. Through her Angels, she shares that at the end of life, she will see that things that loomed large early on, were not very important. When you're young, you don't have a clear picture of who you are. You don't know yourself. The culture skews your self-opinion to what you see physically as Truth as opposed to who are inside. What's important is your gift of beauty within your physical body. 

Parents of Suicide

This woman's son had committed suicide over a year ago. Several weeks after we did a reading together, she emailed me her story. She said that she prayed again that he would give her a sign that he was okay. 

Right before she awoke Saturday morning, she had this dream.  When she was close enough to the awake state to be back in her body but not thinking with her logical mind, he came to her. She said she couldn't remember all of the dream, but enough to recall that she was in a hospital. 

She was looking at an empty bed because whoever occupied this bed was elsewhere.  Suddenly her son sat up in this same bed with the brightest energy surrounding him. All she could see was his smiling face, grinning easily.  The rest of the dream was dull, but her son was dazzling in the Light.  He didn't say anything, but she knew.  Her much-loved son was just fine.

Moving into the Light

Molly asked about her dead Grandmother on her Mother's side. She comes in slowly, arms crossed in front of her, shielding her from any unexpected situations. She appears to be a "I can take care of myself" kind of person, by necessity strong-willed.  Molly shares that it's been years since her Grandmother Lou died.  

The Angels say that as a first generation German, she had difficulty with the challenge of the language and customs of her new country. Still, she managed to create a stable life for herself and her family. She learned caution. In her later years, Molly shared that her Grandmother had a stroke that left her speechless and in a wheelchair for eight years. Molly visited often and in her love, absorbed her Grandmother's perceived sadness.

The Angels shared that at first Lou had a natural  resistance to accepting her speechless situation. Gradually her body carried her into a new way of living. She allowed her guides and Angels and her dead, to visit her often. Breath by breath, slowly she moved into the other side while still being in a body, until one day she was comfortable enough to let go and die. 

2009, the year of Spiritual Awareness

2009 is the master number of 11.  As we seek our spiritual truth, we become the peacemaker. We become the loving teacher simply by living our heaven now, not just in death. Heaven is not in material "things", nor is it a material thing,  but rather how we feel in our hearts.  How we live today creates how we live in death. There is no disconnection.  Angry today, angry tomorrow. Joyful today, joyful tomorrow.

When I have the opportunity to read the dead, I'm startled how many ask to be cleared.  How many still carry the tangled energy of unrest. How many want to let go and move on but don't know how. The dead need our love to move on, just like we all need the love and forgiveness of each other here today.

Dead or alive, we carry with us our selves and our Self.  Who we are today is who is are tomorrow. Body or no body.  Quantum Physics points out the effect precedes the cause, the exact opposite of how we see everyday life. The peace we search for in life is the peace we carry with us into our life continuation called death.  As we learn to act with the peace we want for ourselves, we become that peace and carry it through into our death-life.  We are who we are. 

                                              

Let's choose to begin 2009 with peace in our hearts. Not just peace in terms of war, but peace in our homes, with our families, with our children, with ourselves. Let's teach through our example and begin again. This is our year of raising spiritual awareness. It's an inside job. Our dead depend on us.
